In this event, the 1st Annual Conference 2020, Information Literacy is the topic. We have guest speakers who are here to inform us what it is all about… To find out more, read the poster above for details.
1. How do you think information becomes a path to:
- Development
Information gives knowledge that allows one to get educated. In order to develop, one must gain and review information. Information travels everywhere that it can even lead to development. Information allows us people become more advance and updated in our everyday lives, thus, leading to a new discovery or in short, development in knowledge.
- Prosperity
Information becomes a path to success. Prosperity is usually defined as a condition of being successful. Information contributes to success because without information, how will you get to develop ideas that will allow you to become prosperous, right? With this I believe Information is needed to be able to prosper.
- Freedom
If you have more information, won’t you be able to speak out what is in your mind and construct more ideas? It is freedom in itself, being able to communicate what is in your mind because you have information. Information allows freedom to a lot of things. Some good and bad
- Social Inclusion
Information allows us to communicate with others because you each have a common ground to talk about (what kind of information you may talk about). It becomes a path to social inclusion because you take part in society by sharing information
2. Explain how information is affected by:
- Laws
Laws sometimes stop the flow of information. An example of this is from the Country of China. PRC Cybersecurity Law came into effect and became the first national-level law to address cybersecurity and data privacy protection. China prohibits the use of social websites and apps (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, plus.google.com, etc.), blogging websites and platforms (WordPress, etc.) and many more. The reason for China’s aggressive take on the Internet is to protect its people from outside influence and “harmful information”.
- Business / Economic factors
Businesses strive to gain competitive advantage, increase their Economic indicators, work productivity and efficiency, reduce costs and get other benefits. Information here is used to get more partners in businesses, attract more collaboration in the field.
- Society and Culture
Information may be affected here by influence and opinions. Information may be mixed with bias opinions/answers affecting the factual statement.
